yes you can receive alert or at least head of your email if you have push email service like blackberry or your mobile phone have a program for email. What's your mobile phone?.. try java based program or if you use palm based pda/pdaphone you can use versamail or iambic email, this program can check your email anytime you like, or automatically check in 5 or else minutes. Similar to windows based phone, theres a lot of program on the Net, have you googling ?
